CATANA LEAGUE #3 – A record-breaking edition

On June 5 and 6, the CATANA League returned for its now annual gathering, setting sail from the CATANA shipyard in Canet-en-Roussillon, France.

For its third edition, the event brought together a record number of CATANA Ocean Class catamarans, with five boats taking part: Fluke, Oceanika, Optima, Vela Vie and Elab.

It was a rare sight — almost exceptional — considering that these bluewater cruising catamarans, designed for long-distance sailing and offshore adventures, are usually scattered across the Mediterranean and the world’s oceans.

Five CATANA Ocean Class catamarans sailing together

Over two days, the crews sailed together in a wide range of conditions, with winds ranging from just 3 to 12 knots.

These conditions highlighted one of the defining characteristics of CATANA catamarans: their ability to deliver genuine sailing performance across a broad range of wind conditions, particularly in light air.

A philosophy that perfectly embodies the CATANA Way of Sail:

“Sail when others can’t,” as one of the owners put it.

Beyond pure performance, the ability to keep sailing in light conditions takes on particular importance aboard a catamaran designed for bluewater cruising, where making progress under sail across varying conditions is an essential part of the journey.

More than an event, a community of sailors

But the CATANA League is about much more than two days of sailing.

Above all, it is a moment for sharing, discovery and learning, reflecting the very DNA of CATANA.

Owners and future owners from around the world — Switzerland, the United States, the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy and France — came together in Canet-en-Roussillon around a shared passion: sailing and bluewater cruising aboard a catamaran.

The event gave them the opportunity not only to sail together, but also to visit the shipyard and discover the different stages involved in building a CATANA Ocean Class, in a spirit of transparency and close interaction with the CATANA teams.

Sharing experience and bluewater cruising plans

The CATANA League also provides an opportunity for owners to exchange first-hand experiences, discuss sailing projects and destinations, and share their knowledge of their boats.

These conversations are particularly valuable for future owners, who can compare their own cruising plans with the experience of sailors who have already set off aboard their CATANA.

With each edition, the event continues to strengthen a genuine international community of CATANA owners, united by the same desire to sail further.

A growing Ocean Class fleet

This third CATANA League marked another milestone, with five Ocean Class catamarans gathered together at the same time.

A powerful symbol of a CATANA Ocean Class fleet that continues to grow year after year, even as its boats gradually set off on their own adventures and spread across the world.

An international community, different sailing plans, but the same spirit of adventure and the same approach to bluewater cruising: the CATANA Way of Sail.
