New Catana OC²: Evolution seen from the sea

Catana is proud to unveil the OC², our 6th generation of performance catamarans. While the original Ocean Class set new standards for bluewater cruising, balance, and comfort, the OC² represents the natural continuation of this legacy. The result of thousands of nautical miles sailed and invaluable feedback from our owners, skippers, and design teams, the OC² redefines the experience of long-distance voyaging.

The Catana DNA is more present than ever: an outstanding track record in transatlantic rallies that attests to its performance, a powerful yet perfectly balanced sail plan, a highly rigid carbon-infused construction, and the incomparable craftsmanship of our French shipyard.

As Steele Greyling, Catana US specialist and himself a transatlantic sailor on this vessel, explains: “No fewer than a hundred improvements have been integrated throughout the evolution of the Ocean Class range. It’s about enhancing a platform that lives and evolves with its users. And I think it’s a beautiful thing to listen to those who truly live aboard; that’s not the case with many shipyards…”

Materials and WeightManagement: Compolite® 

Catana asserts itself once again as a pioneer by becoming the world’s first manufacturer to integrate Compolite® throughout the entire interior layout of a production model. This next-generation composite replaces traditional plywood, offering a multitude of advantages: 

• Increased rigidity and stability. 

• Acoustic and thermal comfort. 

• Resistance to moisture and aging. 

• Increased payload capacity, ideal for long-haul voyages. 

This significant weight saving allows for an increase in comfort systems as well as carrying capacity, meaning even more equipment can be added to enhance life on board. 

This is, in fact, a focal point that Catana has always mastered: being very fast while increasing comfort. The brand has built this reputation over generations, particularly regarding life on board, while preserving its sailing performance intact. 

Habitabilityand Living Space Optimization 

Because the OC² is designed for living on the water, feedback from our owners has been instrumental in enhancing interior well-being. 

• The main cabins now feature Queen-size beds that can be extended to King-size. 

• Storage spaces have been maximized, particularly in the saloon and the owner’s suite. 

• In the saloon, modularity is key: the table easily converts into a large additional berth, while a new bar stool/daybed-style seat smooths out circulation and adds to the conviviality of the space. 

Safetyand Ergonomics Underway 

To accommodate movement at sea, we have evolved the interior design for greater visual and ergonomic comfort: all furniture now features rounded finishes. 

Outside, the cockpit seating has been extended over the davits to create a larger lounge area. This design offers a highly appreciated dual option: sitting facing the cockpit to maintain direct contact with the living area, or lying down comfortably for two.
