This engineering choice meets two clear imperatives:

Immediate backup: If one of the water heaters suffers a breakdown offshore, the second one takes over. The crew maintains their autonomy and comfort without interruption.

Fluid Energy Management on Crossings
During a transatlantic crossing or a long delivery trip, fuel management requires smart sailing. In light winds or under power, it is common practice to run only one engine (for example, the starboard engine) to save diesel.
The technical architecture of the Ocean Class has been designed with this offshore reality in mind:
